Shower Songs (a history)

It started as a fun thing to do - Masha and I singing our favourite songs. Usually an odd eclectic mix of everything from folk to punk with bits of jazz and even medieval music in between. This we did in the safe confines of our home, or specifically, shower.

Then an opportunity to play out (my sister's wedding) resulted in more and more public gigs.

So why just mandolin and voice? Why why why?

Well, I love the challenge of reducing bass lines, instrumental lines etc to a single instrument. A particular challenge as the mandolin has virtually no bass to speak of! So that's what I mean when I say that our arrangements are reduced to the bare essentials :)

Our taste in songs. Usually quite dark - from Appalachian mountain songs (think grapes of wrath) to odd choices in pop songs - our current favourite: Billy Jean (yes, like everyone else, we are cashing in).

>> We're currently looking for opportunities to perform. House concerts work well. So if you have a house, and want us to perform in it - please contact us. <<
