An Introduction to Spontaneous Audio (4 x 2hr sessions)

An introduction to basic creative audio skills aimed specifically at creative professionals such as performers, visual artists, and multi media practitioners. This course is not designed for sound engineers, but instead focuses on the essentials needed by anyone wanting to get into sound as a compliment to their current creative skills.

The course will also include an introduction to the software application Audacity which is available free for use on Windows, Mac and Linux platforms.

A booklet on audio basics will be supplied as part of the course material.

Four essential areas are covered:

- Recording (recording with a microphone, mixer and computer)
- Editing (editing in a software environment)
- Mixing (creating a stereo mix)
- Delivery (how to export and deliver a complete mix)

The software application Audacity has been chosen for this course as it is available free for use on Windows, Mac and Linux platforms. It also ably demonstrates all of the essentials.
